Workshop Title: Enhanced conceptual understanding and skill building using TI technology.

Speaker: Mr Jalaj Chaturvedi

Workshop Synopsis:

Inquiry-based learning is an approach to learning that emphasizes the student's role in the learning process. Rather than the teacher telling students what they need to know, students should be encouraged to explore the material, ask questions, and share ideas. In an inquiry-based learning process students explore the relevance of their learning by making real-world connections through exploration and high-level questioning. It makes thinking meaningful, it involves students in their own learning, and the teacher’s role changes from information provider to a facilitator.

There can be various kinds of inquiry-based learning depending upon the age group we are dealing with:

  • Structured: Students take minimum responsibility for the methods and techniques in the learning process
  • Guided: Students take more responsibility for the methods and techniques in the learning process
  • Open-ended: Students take responsibility for the methods and techniques in the learning process.

A combination of structured, guided, and open-ended activities can be used according to the response of the class. In each approach, technology plays a very important role. TI Nspire technology can be effectively used to support inquiry-based learning. It can be used as an interactive tool to enhance the learning process inside and outside the classroom.

The session will cover some of the ways to effectively integrate the TI technology in our planning and teaching to promote and practice inquiry-based learning.
